It was 52 years ago, in 1963, that thousands of Church members travelled to Jekyll Island, Georgia, for the first Feast of Tabernacles to be observed on this historic and tranquil island. They were greeted by perhaps the largest tent anyone had seen, pitched by the ocean’s shore. In that tent, God’s Church assembled daily during the Feast of Tabernacles to worship and praise Him. Anyone who kept the Feast on Jekyll Island during those years has fond memories that will never fade.

Now, 52 years later, the Feast of Tabernacles is still being observed on this island. The large tent is gone, replaced by the brand new, very beautiful and accommodating beachfront Jekyll Island Convention Center. Coupled with the continuing serene, millennial setting of the island, now rich with the history of Feast of Tabernacles observances here, this site holds a unique appeal for attendees, ideal for worship and fellowship.

Daily services, Bible studies, youth Bible lessons, and other events will be held at the Jekyll Convention Center. Other activities planned to complement the Feast experience will include a seniors luncheon, family day at the Great Dunes Park and Beach Pavilion, a teen activity, and other recreational opportunities that will take advantage of the island’s natural features.

The island offers numerous and varied opportunities for group, family, and individual activities.  Miles of unspoiled white sand beaches, miles of bike and walking trails, horseback riding on the beach, dolphin tours, golf, miniature golf, fishing (requires a license), and just hanging out on the beach are popular activities readily available on the island. The Tidelands Nature Center offers guided kayak and canoe rentals, as well as nature walks and indoor and outdoor exhibits to help you explore island and sea life. For those interested in history, the unrivaled charm of the Jekyll Historic District, located along the Intracoastal Waterway, can be toured by tram or foot.

A wide variety of festival housing is available on the island in rented homes, hotels, and condominiums. There are also two new hotels that have recently opening in the Jekyll area. For those who enjoy camping, the Jekyll Island Campground offers 18 wooded acres on the island’s north end, with 206 sites from tent sites to full hook-up, pull through RV sites with electricity, cable TV, water and sewerage.

Average daytime high temperatures in late September/early October are in the mid-70s with nighttime lows in the 60s, with the possibility of rain. Major airports for arrival and departure are Jacksonville, Florida, and Savannah, Georgia, which are both an hour away, and Brunswick, Georgia, which is within 20 miles of the site. A rental car is advised. There is a small toll per vehicle each day one enters the island. Weekly vehicle passes are also available.

As information about the Feast Site is updated it will be posted here.

Opening Night Service: The first service in Jekyll Island will be held on Sunday evening September 27th at 7:30 pm at the Jekyll Convention Center.

Services on Opening Night, the holydays, Sabbath, and each day during the Feast will be held at the very beautiful Jekyll Convention Center.  Bible Studies and Youth Classes will also be held on selected days of the Feast.

Several group activities that cater to all ages and interests have been scheduled during the Feast.  Family Day activities will take place at the beachfront Great Dunes Park which offers a large beach pavilion for eating and fellowshipping, with direct views onto the beach where a variety of activities will be available. A cookout picnic setting and lunch will be provided at a nominal cost.

The Senior Citizens’ luncheon will be an enjoyable afternoon for all those 65 and over.  Teens and young adults will enjoy the oceanfront bike ride on an afternoon early in the Feast.

So that everyone can enjoy and experience some of the natural features and activities of the Island, we will have several options available.  If you haven’t been on a kayak before, you may want to participate in a kayak tour.  The Dolphin Boat Tour has been a popular activity on Jekyll Island for years.  Cruise the marshlands and intracoastal waters where you will see a variety of marine life, including porpoises (most of the time).  Enjoy horseback riding through the natural habitat of the Island, emerging onto Driftwood Beach.   Or you may enjoy a 90-minute trolley tour of the historic area of the Island that includes museum entrance and to several of the historic buildings in Millionaires Village.  Feastgoers will enjoy special discounted prices for many of the activities.

Because there is such an array of activities available on the island, the schedule also includes free afternoons so families can explore and take advantage of the many additional available recreational activities, or just have time to enjoy each other’s company.

Note:   At this time, no scheduled activity at Jekyll Island requires advance payment or reservation.

Bible Studies: On Friday evening, there will be a teen and adult Bible Study.

Youth Classes:  On two days of the Feast, we will hold Youth Classes for pre-teens.   A Children’s Choir will perform once during the Feast.

Updates and additional information on Jekyll activities and schedules will be posted at
